It\'s an instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure. Unlike a traditional mercury barometer, which uses a column of mercury to measure pressure, an aneroid barometer uses a sealed metal container, typically made of thin, corrugated metal. The container is partially evacuated, and as the air pressure changes, the container expands or contracts, causing the mechanism to move a pointer on a dial.
